everything i don't care about is demanding my attention



finals week is infinitely better than the last 2 weeks of class

i know not all college professors are miserable, but so many of them are.  i don't think it should be anyone's career goal to be a professor.  the odds of you not becoming a miserable one are not that great.

catering isn't "fun"

it smells bad, it's messy, rich people are obnoxious, it's hard to care about "serve from the right, clear from the left",we waste so much food, and there is no reason for those plates to be that hot.

i do like how it doesn't feel like being anywhere.  the event locations are so artificial, i don't recognize anyone, and the back of the house changes every job.  i'm not someone who finds the idea of rambling around the country aimlessly meeting people and having experiences appealing, because that's scary and dumb.  but i get that happy "i don't belong here" feeling when i'm carrying a handful of empty wine glasses and cake plates back to a nasty plastic tub we rented from somewhere.

last night was cool 'cause someone had a cup of coffee cup full of coffee and water with a broken up wine bottle cork floating in it.  it looked great, when am i going to see that again?
